Fans were delighted when Cody Rhodes made his return to WWE at WrestleMania 38, serving as Vince McMahon’s hand-picked opponent for Seth Rollins. Rhodes immediately added star power to WWE Raw, and it appeared he would be heavily featured going forward.
However, ahead of his rematch with Seth Rollins at WWE Hell in a Cell, Rhodes suffered a torn pectoral muscle. While he was able to defeat Seth Rollins at the premium live event, he addressed the crowd the next night on Raw and was written off television with another attack from Rollins.
Recovery from such a severe injury takes time, and while fans expected that Cody Rhodes may be healed enough for a return at the upcoming Royal Rumble in San Antonio, TX, it was also assumed that his return would serve as a surprise at the event if he were able to appear. However, on the December 26th episode of WWE Raw, Rhodes appeared in a video package, addressing his injury and saying that he wants to pick up where he left off.
Subsequent episodes of WWE Raw have also featured video packages about the injured star, leading to more speculation about his WWE return and taking away some of the element of surprise when it comes to his recovery.
Brandi Rhodes Explained That A Recent Social Media Post Was Not About Cody Rhodes
On January 15th, Cody’s wife Brandi Rhodes took to social media with a post that at first glance is anything but inflammatory. She simply expressed her excitement for the upcoming week, but fans immediately read into the post and assumed she was spoiling the WWE return of her husband.
Fans were so vocal about the tweet that Brandi once again took to Twitter to respond, saying that while she is always excited for her husband’s accomplishments, her original tweet had nothing to do with the American Nightmare.
“While I’m always excited for things in my husbands life, I’m not talking about him. I’m excited for myself and my own life!!!”
