We have a brand new WWE Women’s Champion.
For the past several weeks, tension has been boiling between Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton. Now finally, after weeks of teasing, Tiffany Stratton has defeated Nia Jax to win her first-ever WWE Women’s Championship.
On the first-ever three-hour edition of SmackDown in 2023 on 3rd January, Nia Jax faced off against Naomi in a title match. Toward the closing stages of the match, Stratton teased cashing in her briefcase before hitting Naomi with it and helping Jax get the pinfall.
However, moments later, while celebrations continued inside the ring, Stratton finally stabbed Jax in the back. After she hit Jax with the briefcase, Bianca Belair dropped Jax with the KOD. Soon after, Stratton dropped her with ‘The Prettiest Moonsault Ever’, and pinned Jax to capture the gold.
Jax held the title for 153 days and four successful title defenses. After her successful jump to the main roster last year, ‘Tiffy Time’ has now officially begun.
WWE SmackDown Has Two Brand New Additions
The 3rd January episode of The Blue Brand marked the beginning of a brand new era. While Shinsuke Nakamura and DIY retained their titles, fans witnessed Jax lose her. The show also brought forward two brand-new additions.
While ring announcer Lillian Garcia made the switch from Raw to SmackDown, the show also saw the debut of blue ring mats. There is no official update on whether the blue mats are set to continue or not.
In another report by Fightful Select, there was another black ring mat earlier in the afternoon with various logos, including a Fortnite logo in place of the Prime logo. In the two corners was Riyadh Season, with the other two corners being Real American Beer. Additionally, there were Cricket, Netflix, and Snickers logos.
