WWE have unveiled the new design for the Tag Team Championships.
At WrestleMania XL the Unified Tag Team titles were up for grabs in a Six-Pack Ladder Match. The match saw both the Raw and SmackDown tag titles hanging from the rafters meaning that for the first time since 2022, the two sets of titles were not defended together.
The chaotic match saw titles separated when Grayson Waller and Austin Theory captured the SmackDown Tag Team Championships while R-Truth shattered a 14-year streak when he finally got his WrestleMania moment by unhooking the Raw titles.
Following the disunion of the titles, a new design for the Raw championships were revealed on the April 15th edition of Monday Night Raw. Along with the new look came a new name and the titles are now known as the WWE World Tag Team Championships.
Then on the April 19th episode of Friday Night SmackDown, the titles held by Waller and Theory also received a revamp. During the segment, Triple H and SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis unveiled the new design, which instantly drew comparisons to the late 90s and early 2000s championships held by the likes of Edge & Christian, The Hardy Boys, The Dudley Boyz and Eddie and Chavo Guerrero.
A new challenger for Cody Rhodes confirmed on WWE SmackDown
After Cody Rhodes finally finished his story and beat Roman Reigns for the Undisputed Univeral Championship in the main event of Night 2 of WrestleMania XL, two Triple Threat matches were fought to determine a new Number One Contender.
Those matches saw AJ Styles and LA Knight victorious and the two rivals then face each other to become the next challenger. Styles gained some payback for his WrestleMania loss by defeating Knight to face Rhodes for the title at WWE Backlash France.
