Booker T On Why He Was “So Nervous” To Wrestle Kurt Angle

Former World Champion Booker T has revealed why he was trepidatious about stepping in the ring with fellow WWE Hall Of Famer, Kurt Angle.

Booker T had already built a legendary wrestling career as a ten-time WCW Tag Team Champion and a four-time WCW World Champion before he first set foot in WWE in 2001.

Upon his arrival in the company, Booker T was soon thrust into a feud with Olympic gold medallist Kurt Angle, where the men traded the WCW Title, leading to Booker’s famous fifth reign with the belt.

Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T explained why he felt some nerves about getting in the ring with Angle, adding that he had to be at the top of his game:

“I remember working with Kurt (Angle) and I was so nervous about working with Kurt Angle because I knew that this may be the one guy that blow me up. I said, ‘I’m going to go out and match him blow for blow, move for move, point for point,’ just to show him how good I am, as well as (show him) he can’t leave me in the dust.”

“And I was so nervous about working with Kurt Angle just because that right there alone, you got to be there at the top of your game with somebody like Kurt Angle.”

The last time Booker T and Kurt Angle went one on one was back in 2008 when both men were a part of TNA. The pair went on to form the Main Event Mafia in the company, joining forces with fellow wrestling legends Sting, Kevin Nash, and Scott Steiner.
