Booker T has had his say on the future of NXT star Adam Cole as rumours swirl around the former NXT Champion’s contract status with WWE.
Adam Cole is reported to be working on a short-term extension to his original contract which expired at some point in July. Fightful Select have said in their most recent report on the matter that Cole had a verbal agreement with the company to work through to SummerSlam weekend before inking the short-term extension officially.
talkSPORT reported that the reason Cole agreed to work through to the weekend of SummerSlam is so he can put over his former Undisputed Era partner Kyle O’Reilly in what would be a rubber match between the two rivals at NXT TakeOver: 36.
With Cole’s future uncertain, two-time WWE Hall Of Famer Booker T has given his two cents on what he believes Cole should do.
Speaking on his Hall Of Fame podcast, Booker T explained:
“Adam Cole, one thing he needs to know, that AEW is going to be there for him. It’s going to be there. So, you better get what you need to get out of this (WWE) for as long as you possibly can, and then if something happens, you think about what comes next. You do the job to the best of your ability to do whatever comes next. If that’s his choice, that’s his choice. But I think Adam Cole worked a hell of a long time to get to that point and to just throw it all away because of what you hear on social media, I just don’t think that would be smart.”
The wrestling industry is awash with rumours of former WWE stars heading to All Elite Wrestling in the coming weeks. CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, and the former Ruby Riott have all been linked with the Jacksonville-based company to some degree. Those names could follow the signings of Christian Cage, Andrade El Idolo, and Malakai Black in swelling the ranks of the Elite roster.
