Booker T denies falling asleep at the WWE Hall of Fame.
The WWE Hall of Fame ceremony has become a beloved WrestleMania week tradition, bringing together both current and past stars to celebrate the legacies of those who’ve helped pave the way in professional wrestling. Triple H headlined the class of 2025, with Michelle McCool, Lex Luger, and The Natural Disasters also being honored with Hall of Fame inductions.
Two-time inductee Booker T was present for the 2025 Hall of Fame ceremony, and he made news when a viral photo began circulating online. The photo shows the NXT broadcaster with his eyes closed during the ceremony, leading to accusations that he fell asleep.

Addressing those allegations on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T insisted he was not sleeping during the ceremony and was instead praying and reflecting on the importance of the moment.
“I want to let everybody know that the photo that’s circulating around, I was not asleep. I mean, you could tell my head was straight up. It wasn’t tilted to the left or right. It was down because it was a somber moment, and I was praying, and really, really, thinking about that, being in the moment.”
According to Booker T, there are times in the Hall of Fame ceremony that are meant to be reflective, and he was taking the emotional weight of the ceremony seriously.
“I mean, it’s one thing about situations like that, and having that Hall of Fame speech and that Hall of Fame moment. At certain times it’s going to be laughter, but certain times you gotta really, really take it seriously about what’s being said, and at that point, I was definitely in tune. Let’s just say that I was in tune, but sleeping, no, I was not sleeping. Okay, let’s just say that.”
Booker T Says His Wife Sharmell Would Have Woken Him Up If He Were Asleep
Continuing, the star pointed out that his wife and fellow Hall of Famer Sharmell would have made sure he was awake if he had dozed off during the ceremony.
“Sharmell was sitting right by me. If I was asleep, she would’ve let me know. Not one time throughout the night did Sharmell poke me.”
Ahead of the ceremony, Booker T gave his thoughts on the WrestleMania 13 bout between Steve Austin vs. Bret Hart being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Also on his podcast, Booker T congratulated one star on their victory.
