Booker T Says Recent AEW Match Was Hard For Him To Watch

Booker T has revealed that a recent AEW World Championship match was too hard for him to watch.

The former six-time World Heavyweight Champion discussed the 9 February episode of All Elite Wrestling’s Dynamite on the latest edition of his Hall of Fame podcast, noting that the Texas Deathmatch between Lance Archer and defending AEW World Champion, Adam Page made for hard viewing.

He believes there’s a time and place for these sorts of matches (h/t Wrestling Inc):

“The thing is, I really think there’s a place for that, doing those types of matches. Tables, ladders, chairs, blood. There’s a place for it, fans have always gravitated to that in professional wrestling. It has always been a part of the culture.”

Booker T found a particular issue with the match’s excessive use of blood:

“I know things change along the way as far as the blood thing goes, but I am sure it’s something AEW fans, it’s pretty appealing to them, let’s just say that. But, I do think for PPV, man that is money. That’s giving me a whole lot more, that’s giving me a little bit extra. On a Wednesday night, going out with blood and gore, it’s hard for me to watch, honestly.”

The AEW World Championship contest, which saw “Hangman” Adam Page retain the title over “The Murderhawk Monster” in a barbaric fifteen-and-a-half-minute brawl, has received a four-and-a-half star rating from Dave Meltzer. The finish saw Archer go crashing through two tables via Buckshot Lariat.

Page would be confronted post-match by Adam Cole, seemingly setting up the World Championship match for the Revolution pay-per-view on 6 March.
