Booker T Recalls Being “Taken Aback” By Incident With Ronda Rousey’s Entourage

WWE Hall Of Famer Booker T has revealed an incident involving Ronda Rousey’s entourage at WrestleMania that left the veteran “taken aback.”

‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey had conquered the world of MMA before making her official WWE debut at the 2018 Royal Rumble. The Baddest Unarmed Woman On The Planet’s in-ring debut came three months later on The Grandest Stage Of Them All at WrestleMania 34.

At that event, Rousey teamed with fellow Olympian Kurt Angle to defeat the hated husband and wife team of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

Speaking on his Hall Of Fame podcast, Booker T has recalled a run-in with one of Rousey’s entourage backstage that left the five-time WCW Champion a bit perturbed:

“But I remember Ronda Rousey was making her debut – I guess it was WrestleMania (the tag match with Kurt Angle)… it had to be WrestleMania because The Masters comes on around the same time as WrestleMania. I’m a huge golf fan.”

“I was watching it on my phone in catering and there was a lot of people in catering and the monitor was in catering, and I had my phone on and I was listening to the Masters and I was hyped up. And somebody from Ronda Rousey’s party came on and told me, could I please turn my phone down because Ronda was ready to start wrestling.”

“I’m not going to say what I said or anything like that, but I was taken aback. I was in the business for 30 years, dammit, and this phone is not that loud where it’s going to out loud you… you have got to be so much more loud than the phone (to drown the monitor sound). I was just taken aback by someone being in the locker room who did not know locker room etiquette, catering etiquette, or business etiquette.”

Booker T quickly added that he has no issue with Ronda Rousey and doubts that the former Raw Women’s Champion is even aware of the incident. As it happens, Jordan Spieth won that year’s Masters with the final day falling on WrestleMania Sunday.

Rousey’s name has been back in the wrestling press after Sasha Banks gave an interview where she discussed being “p*ssed off” that Rousey could make more money than her in WWE.
