Booker T Questions The Reason Behind Tony Khan’s Social Media Outburst

Booker T Questions Tony Khan's Social Media Outburst

Booker T has analysed the Tony Khan Twitter posts that got fans talking.

Following on from Samoa Joe becoming the new AEW World Champion at Worlds End, The Samoan Submission Machine was challenged by HOOK for a future title shot. With the other names available to face Joe on the roster, fans felt underwhelmed as a result.

A couple of days later on WWE Raw, Seth Rollins was confronted by former champion Jinder Mahal, setting up a title match for the January 15th episode of the red brand. While most fans were aware that Mahal wouldn’t win but still had a humourous look back to 2017, one man was not so happy.

Publicly protesting the “double standard” Tony Khan blasted WWE over their booking as Jinder Mahal had not won a match in nearly a year and HOOK had won 28. Chaos would then ensue on social media with many mocking Khan for the outburst.

Giving his thoughts on the matter on the Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T stated that although HOOK may have a great win/loss record, he can’t recall any of the victories:

Do you remember five of those 28 wins that HOOK had? I’m serious. Do you remember five of the guys that HOOK beat? Three of the guys HOOK beat?

The 6-time World Champion continued, stating that he has nothing against the AEW star but feels that someone with a great win/loss record should be featured more prominently, and would be in his own promotion:

“I don’t want anyone to think I’m hating on HOOK. I don’t want anyone to think, for one second, that I’m hating on HOOK. I wanna touch on Tony Khan more than anything. When I asked, ‘How many of those wins do you remember HOOK had on television?’ That winning streak, you can’t remember one. The thing is, seems like that would have been a hell of a time to make HOOK a household name, having that 28-0 run. Seems like he would have had all those shows on Dynamite.

I don’t know when the hell he picked up a 28-1 record because I haven’t seen this kid. Personally, I don’t watch a lot of AEW, but I do watch a lot of highlights from AEW, TNA, and every other organization, and I have not seen a whole lot of buzz about HOOK. There should be a hell of a lot of buzz around HOOK if he has a 28-1 record. I could be wrong. I could be wrong about that. I do know that if this kid was in Reality of Wrestling and he had a 28-1 run, he’d be near the top rung as far as people talking about him on a weekly basis,”

Booker T Wants To See Former WWE Star In Hall Of Fame

As WrestleMania approaches, the inductees in the 2024 Hall of Fame class are set to be announced in the near future. With there still being many notable omissions, Booker T has previously advocated for a star of the WWE Attitude Era to be inducted at the 2024 ceremony.

In a recent interview, an AEW star has given his thoughts on Tony Khan’s comments made on social media.

H/t to Fightful.
