Booker T Praises WWE Star For Overcoming “Mediocre Roles”

Booker T has tipped his hat to LA Knight for refusing to be brought down by less-than-stellar creative plans.

Knight arrived on the main roster as Max Dupri, heading up Maximum Male Models. However, he ended his relationship with the group in September 2022 and reverted back to his LA Knight ring name and persona.

Since then it has been reported that the star has impressed those backstage with his performances, and could well be set for big things after WrestleMania 39.

Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T praised Knight for overcoming a difficult start to his main roster career.

“For someone like LA Knight, this guy could have bailed out a long time ago. He could have quit. He could have said, ‘Man, let me go jump on this AEW bandwagon and see if these guys will pay me some money, man, because I can’t deal with this. I can’t deal with just having these mediocre roles. But one thing about this business is, you’re going to have a mediocre role somewhere along the way no matter what you’re at.

But it’s about weathering that storm and fixing yourself in position to where, there again, the fans are going to dictate just like I was talking about with Bron Breakker, the fans will dictate where your pecking order is going to be in this business and I say that from experience.

That (being Max Dupri), was putting him in a position where he literally could fail, but he said, let me take this role and try to make it something. A lot of people say, ‘Man, I wouldn’t do that.’ Yeah you would have. You would have did it. You would have did it because there’s a check at the end of the day, but more important than that, this is a guy that’s not going to bail on the situation because he gets put in a situation. They’re going to be put in that situation and try to make the best of that situation. I respect that, man. I respect that to the utmost from this dude.”

Booker T Sends Warning To Bron Breakker

During the conversation, Booker T also touched on the future of NXT Champion Bron Breakker. The former World Champion urged Breakker to be careful about claiming that he doesn’t worry about fans. His comments come after he criticised the second-generation star back in February.

“You know, that’s a tough one. It’s a really, really tough one right there to say, you know, let’s bring Bron to the main roster because it’s sink or swim when you get to the main roster. There’s nowhere to go but up. One thing you don’t want to do is get lost in the shuffle. He’s got to be 100% ready. I said it just a few weeks ago that right now the crowd has turned on Bron a little bit. Bron said on NXT you know, you can’t worry about the fans.

But I’m gonna tell you right now. That’s the one thing you got to worry about is the fans because, especially these days fans. This era is different. These fans cuddle together and get on the internet and try to destroy you. Seriously. They could make it a point to try to cancel you, so you got to try to know how to walk that thin line very, very properly because you don’t want to mess up as far as that goes.

For me, the fans that brought the signs, the fans that cheered, you know, ‘Let’s go Booker T’, the fans that raised the roof when I came out, that was so important for me to have those fans on my side to be able to move up the ladder. Bron Breakker has to understand exactly what that is truly, 100% all about before you get in that situation.”

Bron Breakker is set to defend the NXT Championship against Carmelo Hayes at NXT Stand & Deliver.
