Former five time WCW World Heavyweight Champion Booker T has revealed that he would build an entire wrestling promotion around AJ Styles.
Arguably one of the greatest wrestlers in the world today, former WWE Champion AJ Styles has been the lynchpin of the company’s main event and upper-mid card scene since his debut for the promotion at the 2016 Royal Rumble.
Prior to his entry into World Wrestling Entertainment, Styles was the figurehead of New Japan Pro Wrestling as well as TNA where the star rose through the ranks to finally reign as TNA World Heavyweight Champion and one of the most able performers in the modern day game.
Now, Booker T has taken to his Hall of Fame Podcast in order name ‘The Phenomenal One’ as the man he would build an entire promotion around if he was the person in charge:
“I have one guy that I could have as my right hand man, and I’m starting a big promotion, it would be AJ Styles. Just because AJ Styles has been around for a very long time. AJ Styles is a guy who had the in-ring career, but he was there watching it back when WCW was at its end.
AJ Styles was a guy in that locker room back then, he’s been a guy who’s on this journey for a long time. He’s a guy that’s well seasoned, gone all over the world. To have him affirm things for me would be very very important. That’s what I look for in trying to create a promotion, having guys like that around to be able to help me out.”
Styles will be one of the six men inside the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match on February 21, alongside Kofi Kingston, Jeff Hardy, Randy Orton, Sheamus and champion Drew McIntyre.
