WWE Hall of Famer Booker T says it wouldn’t surprise him in the slightest if Sasha Banks or Naomi ended up in AEW after walking out on WWE.
On the May 16th episode of Monday Night Raw, Sasha Banks and Naomi were scheduled to take part in a six-pack challenge to crown a new number one contender for the Raw Women’s Championship.
However, following an alleged disagreement over creative, Banks and her tag partner left the arena with the show in progress. This led to a frantic re-write of the show, with Becky Lynch and Asuka taking the main event spot.
After WWE released a statement during the show criticising the pair, on the following episode of SmackDown, Michael Cole announced that the two women had been suspended indefinitely. Furthermore, they were stripped of the Women’s Tag Team Titles.
A fresh update from Fightful Select has now suggested that there is “no end in sight” as the standoff between the two parties rumbles on. The report explains that there hasn’t been much if any, communication between WWE and their two long-serving Superstars.
Fightful adds that they have been told by one source that if Banks and Naomi have been suspended without pay as has been reported, their contracts won’t be frozen – this could significant in Naomi’s case as she is not said to have long left on her WWE contract.
Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast Booker T commented on the situation and says it wouldn’t surprise him if either woman ends up in AEW, as it’s all part of the game of pro wrestling:
“I wouldn’t be surprised or shocked or anything of that sort if they were to show up at AEW. It’s business, that’s what happens, you know, when you lose a job. Normally when you lose a job, you look for a job somewhere else. That’s just the way life is.”
“When people see guys pop up at AEW who used to work at WWE, I don’t know why they’re so surprised because that’s what happened back in the day when WCW guys when they left WCW, where’d they go? They went to WWE, they went to Japan. Guys who left WWE, where’d they go? WCW. That’s just part of it.”
