At IMPACT Rebellion, Kenny Omega pinned Rich Swann to win the IMPACT World Championship. The victory means that Omega is the holder of three separate world titles.
Omega now stands as the IMPACT World Champion, AEW World Champion and AAA Mega Champion.
However, while Omega’s win has cemented his status as one of the most preeminent wrestlers in the world, not everyone was in favour of the AEW star winning another title.
Speaking on his Hall Of Fame podcast, Booker T said the win does “absolutely nothing” for IMPACT.
“I don’t know what Impact is thinking right now… Maybe they’re thinking about the rub. It’s a cool moment for AEW, it’s not a cool moment for Impact wrestling unless I own both companies and I was working the fans at the same time with both of my companies. For Rich Swann to go out and lose the title to Kenny Omega, it does absolutely nothing in my opinion [for Impact].”
Expanding further, Booker said that if he was running the company he wouldn’t have allowed something like that to happen.
“Bottom line… If the champion gets beat, which is supposed to be your franchise player, your number one guy and then he goes out and gets beat. I could be wrong, but for me, if it was my company, something like that wouldn’t have gone down. That’s just me.”
Back in AEW, Kenny Omega now must turn his attention to Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley.
On the most recent episode of Dynamite, the champion was attacked by the steel chair wielding pair who threatened to break his ankle if Don Callis didn’t grant them a match against Omega. Eventually Callis acquiesced, much to the relief of Omega.
Omega will now team with Nakazawa to take on Kingston and Moxley at AEW Dynamite Blood and Guts on May 5th.
