Booker T has hit out at Ember Moon for disclosing details of backstage meetings during her time with WWE.
Speaking in a recent interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Athena, previously known as Ember Moon, opened up about her time with WWE. More specifically, the former NXT Women’s Champion lifted the lid on her dissatisfaction with her in final months in NXT and problems she sees behind the scenes.
During the conversation, the star revealed that there were a number of meetings backstage where female stars were encouraged to dress in a sexier fashion. Moon said that the meetings tried to get her and others to dress like Mandy Rose, who is presented in a more sexualised way than female Superstars have been in the recent past.
Although Moon was quick to explain that this wasn’t an attack on Rose, instead she was merely pointing out that “not everyone is Mandy Rose.”
Reflecting on the comments on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T has had his say on the conversation. The former World Champion explained that while Ember Moon may have been frustrated, she shouldn’t have discussed the details of private meetings held backstage.
“[She was] doing great things [and] was in a tag team with Shotzi Blackheart, and that thing was going somewhere, and then kind of fizzled out for some reason. Shotzi got paired with somebody else, I’m sure that made Athena feel a certain way. But there again, when we’re talking about insider information that happened in meetings and stuff like that, I’m not a big fan of going out and talking about what happened in meetings,”
The WWE Hall of Famer also claimed that the star shouldn’t have brought Mandy Rose’s name into the conversation, as she might like her current presentation and the role she portrays.
“I just don’t know why she made the comments. Oh, just like say for instance throwing Mandy Rose in there or even put Mandy Rose’s name out there, you know. Mandy Rose might like the way she goes out and dresses, she might like the role that she’s playing. It might benefit her very, very well to play that role.”
Despite her unhappiness with the company, Moon also revealed that WWE offered her five-times her salary in an effort to get her to sign a new contract.
