Booker T has praised NXT 2.0 commenting that a renewed focus on the brand is meaning that the brand can flourish.
After an occasionally rocky road since it’s creation in September 2021, NXT 2.0 has begun to receive more positive reviews in recent weeks with viewing figures on the increase.
The recent Heatwave edition of the show drew in 723,000 viewers which was the highest rating that the brand has seen since October 2021. Although NXT 2.0 saw a decrease in viewership on August 23rd, the 678,000 viewers who did tune in represents a positive figure.
Speaking on a recent episode of his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T commented on the brand’s current upswing. The former WCW star said that a renewed focus on the show is paying dividends as NXT Champion Bron Brekker continues to grow into his role.
“NXT did 750,000 views last week or something like that,” said Booker T. “They’re going strong, man, and the last thing that they’re thinking about, I think right now, is anything other than the show and giving the people you know an awesome show. Bron Breakker’s name is getting bigger and bigger every week. It’s just because you know, they’re again thinking about the show.”
Shawn Michaels, who had assumed control of the brand back in 2021 with Triple H taking a leave of absence, was recently promoted to Vice President of Talent Development.
The confirmation came as WWE announced that NXT UK would be coming to an end, with the brand set to be replaced by NXT Europe in 2023.
NXT UK will have one final hurrah at NXT Words Collide on September 4th where a number of the brand’s stars will square off against NXT 2.0’s finest. A number of title unification matches were announced on the most recent episode of the show.
