Booker T has claimed that fans are creating controversy where it doesn’t exist after Stephanie McMahon announced she was taking a leave of absence.
On May 19th Stephanie McMahon announced that she is taking a leave of absence from WWE. In a short statement posted on social media, McMahon said that she would be stepping away from “the majority” of her responsibilities with the company.
“As of tomorrow, I am taking a leave of absence from the majority of my responsibilities at WWE. WWE is a lifelong legacy for me and I look forward to returning to the company that I love after taking this time to focus on my family.”
Apart from that short statement, details regarding McMahon’s decision to step away have been thin on the ground. This has led fans to wonder whether there is more to the situation than meets the eye.
Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T suggested that his speculation is creating controversy where there isn’t any. The WWE Hall of Famer said he believes that the Chief Brand Officer is simply taking a well-earned break.
“It just seems like people want to find something controversial to be able to talk about … Her taking time off means nothing other than she’s taking time off. Shane McMahon has taken time off several times, he’s always come back,” Booker pointed out. “He’s taken more time off. I don’t look at it like most because everybody’s looking for a story. And me, like you said, Stephanie has been in the trenches for a long time. To take a break, I think is a break well needed.”
Stephanie McMahon might be taking time away from WWE, her husband Triple H, has now returned to work full-time following a serious “cardiac event” back in September. However, his duties are said to be “categorically different” to before he was forced to take a break from the company.
