Booker T believes WWE legend D-Von Dudley returning to the ring is a bad idea and that Dudley should “let it go.”
A few days ago, D-Von Dudley opened up on Insight with Chris Van Vliet about one final match to put a bow on his legendary wrestling career. The tag team specialist wants to partner up with Bubba Ray Dudley once again to take on perhaps their most important professional rival, The Hardys.
At TNA Slammiversary on July 20, Bubba Ray Dudley made a surprise appearance to issue a challenge to The Hardys, who claimed the TNA World Tag Team Championship at the event. TNA Bound For Glory, October 12, seems to be the destination point. Bubba Ray later explained D-Von’s absence was owing to a family matter, but assured that the retired legend would be back for the match.
Booker T Says The Dudleys vs. The Hardys At TNA Bound For Glory “Is Not Possible”
The match has not been made official. On The Hall of Fame with Booker T & Brad Gilmore podcast, Booker T brought up D-Von’s past health issues, including his stroke in 2020 and spinal surgery in 2022. Booker reiterated that those involved should forget about one final match. He feels that wrestlers should know when to “put it down.”
Let me tell you something, it’s not possible. D-Von, damn it, he just had a heart attack or a stroke not too long ago. He can’t work anymore. He’s done. He’s finished. […] Bubba Ray, look, man, these guys just don’t know when to let it go. That’s my thing. They just don’t know when to put it down. It’s over. Okay? All that other stuff you was talking about, Jacy Jayne and Trick Williams, AJ Styles, all that stuff, that’s cool. But let’s forget about The Dudleys vs. The Hardys. Let’s just forget about it.”

D-Von Dudley also expressed interest in returning to WWE as a producer, a role he fulfilled between 2016 and 2023. His final run as an in-ring performer at the sports entertainment capital was in 2016, alongside Bubba Ray. Meanwhile, Booker T is still under contract with WWE, where he serves as a color commentator for NXT.
