Booker T believes Adam Cole’s problems in AEW have nothing to do with his recent injuries but rather his physique.
After Adam Cole came out victorious in the finals of the Owen Hart Foundation at AEW Double or Nothing, he has since been reported to be dealing with some injuries. Despite the reports, Cole has continued to appear on Dynamite trying to get himself a match for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at AEW X NJPW: Forbidden Door. While Cole believes himself to be the best on the roster, one Hall of Famer thinks Cole is still missing a crucial element.
Booker T recently spoke on the “Reality of Wrestling Podcast” about Cole’s injuries and criticized him for his current build. The leader of the Undisputed Elite is billed at five foot 11 and 200 pounds whereas the man he defeated at Double or Nothing, Samoa Joe, is billed at 310. Although Cole has defeated men larger than him in the past, Booker T believes that his smaller build puts him at a disadvantage:
“If Adam Cole has to have surgery and he’s down for six, nine months and he, you know, lose any more muscle, it’s going to be hard on this brother, You know what I’m saying? Right now, he’s about a buck 60…
We gotta get more weight on Adam Cole, you know what I mean? That’s his problem, he’s light, bottom light. We gotta get some muscle on this kid. That’s probably one of the reasons why he’s going out there, getting hurt because it can’t be the schedule at AEW.”
Cole hasn’t wrestled since his victory at Double or Nothing. He’s currently in the running to face Jay White for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Forbidden Door, but he also has another threat by the name of Hangman Adam Page. AEW has yet to confirm who will end up challenging White for the title.
