Booker T Critical Of Adam Page’s AEW World Title Reign

Booker T

Booker T has claimed that Hangman Adam Page never felt like the main event while he held the AEW World Championship.

Hangman Adam Page captured the AEW World Championship at Full Gear in November, dethroning the longest-reigning champion in history, Kenny Omega.

In the months that followed, the star saw off challenges from Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole and Lance Archer. However, at AEW Double or Nothing, he ran into one hurdle too many in the form of CM Punk. On the night Page did everything he could and then a little more, in an effort to keep his championship but ultimately came up short.

Looking back on Double or Nothing during his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T offered his thought’s on Page’s World Title reign. The WWE Hall of Famer said that it was the right call to make Punk champion, although Page never really felt like the main event when he held the title.

“CM Punk definitely is the guy,” Booker said.

“What do you bring him in for if you’re not going to put the title on him, push him to the moon, and really try and create a buzz off of what CM Punk has created?”

“For me as a promoter, that would have been the move I would have been thinking. Put the title on CM Punk and let’s see how far we can ride this gravy train.”

“As far as Hangman Adam Page, he’s a damn good worker. I don’t think there was a highlight put on his title run. I don’t think he got any of the glitz and glamor.”

“It’s almost like one of those things when you become the champion, but you’re not in the main event. You’re just on the show and you’re not the main event.”

While Adam Page was missing from the June 1st edition of Dynamite, it appears that he could be heading for a big match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. A new report has suggested that Page is listed as an opponent for Kazuchika Okada.
