Booker T believes a current NXT star could reach the same heights as WWE Hall of Famer Lita.
Roxanne Perez has already made strides since arriving in NXT. Following her Ring of Honor Women’s Championship run, the 20-year-old became the first-ever NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament winner.
She began her wrestling career at 16, training under legendary superstar Booker T. Speaking with Wrestling Inc.’s Nick Hausman, Booker T discussed Perez’s potential as a future Hall of Famer and compared her to former Women’s Champion Lita.
“I talked to the WWE about her when she first signed and I said, ‘This is one that we really got to protect. It’s one that we really got to make sure we do the right things with,’ because she is Lita 20 years from now going into the Hall of Fame. She is the one, she is special and I just think with the right hands on her, with me in her ear just trying to make sure she does the right things, and for her to be such a student of the game I see nothing but big things for Roxanne Perez. She’s a diamond, man. She really is.”
In addition to winning the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament, Perez also captured the NXT Women’s Championship with Cora Jade. Unfortunately for Perez, she had to relinquish the title after Jade cost her an opportunity to win the NXT Women’s Championship in a match against Mandy Rose.
Despite the setback, Perez still is gaining a lot of attention for her work in the ring. In 2021, Pro Wrestling Illustrated ranked her #28 of the top 150 female wrestlers.
