Booker T has explained the similarities between Oba Femi and Goldberg but believes the NXT star has a big advantage over the WWE Hall of Famer.
Since making his NXT debut in 2023, Oba Femi has had a fast rise in the developmental brand. The star won the 2023 Breakout Tournament and quickly cashed it in to defeat Dragon Lee for the North American title in January 2024.
Since then, Femi has defeated every challenger that’s come his way, including Wes Lee, Lexis King, and most recently at NXT No Mercy, Tony D’Angelo.
One man who’s been keeping an eye on Femi is NXT announcer Booker T. On his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker favourably compared Femi’s rise to Goldberg’s in WCW, with the difference being that Femi has had more time in the ring.
“I kind of compare him to someone like Goldberg. Somebody that was indestructible, I mean a guy that could go out there and just run the table.
“Only thing that’s different is Oba Femi is actually getting a lot more in-ring time, actually feeling the work side out a whole lot more than Goldberg.
“He actually came along on that same trajectory as a Bill Goldberg. Being a big guy, very, very impressive, looks like he’s unbeatable, unstoppable.
“He’s got all of those qualities, but there again, I think from his infancy stages he’s learning what it means to go out there and really truly learn the business.”
Booker T Would Love To Referee Huge WWE Match
Booker T would love to be the referee for the next chapter of CM Punk and Drew McIntyre’s rivalry if he gets the call. With speculation that the match will take place inside Hell in a Cell at Bad Blood, Booker said he would “be there in a heartbeat” to call the action right down the middle.
Recently Booker T said that another NXT Superstar has already had a WWE Hall of Fame worthy career.
