Booker T Compares Divisive WrestleMania Match To His Own Infamous Moment: “I Remember The Check More”

Booker T Makes Bold Prediction For WWE Royal Rumble

Booker T has given his thoughts on a WrestleMania moment that divided fans and how he can relate, given his past Mania match that became famous for all the wrong reasons.

In what was one of the biggest shocks of the weekend, Joe Hendry was revealed to be the mystery opponent for Randy Orton. While the thousands in attendance were delighted to see the Scottish star compete at the biggest show of the year and against a star of Orton’s calibre, some took issue with the fact that the TNA World Champion was beaten so quickly.

Speaking about the quick match on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T dismissed the criticism, noting that it was a huge moment for Hendry:

“People can say what they want to say about Joe Hendry’s match with Randy Orton — which, it wasn’t one of those 30-minute matches or anything like that — but I tell you what? It was a damn hell of a moment for Joe Hendry.”

The Hall of Famer then spoke about his match against Triple H in 2003, which saw the NXT announcer lose to The Game in controversial circumstances as Triple H hit a pedigree on Booker T and took a long time to secure the winning pin. Speaking about that match and how it relates to Hendry, Booker noted that regardless of the result, he was paid well:

“Same thing with me — WrestleMania 19 — people always talk about that moment, but I remember the check more than the moment!”

Concluding, the Hall of Famer was very complimentary of the moment and expects to see Hendry at another WrestleMania down the road:

“It was a hell of a moment (…) just because people [were] waiting and anticipating who it was it gonna be. And when they played the music? The pop that was heard around the stadium told me that Joe Hendry would be back at WrestleMania again.”

Booker T Believes WWE Star Only Has One Shot

While the top stars in the promotion were present on the WrestleMania card, fans are hoping to see those that were absent from the show utilised more over the next few weeks. When discussing one WWE star who fans want to see get more airtime, Booker T admitted the clock was ticking on their future.
