Booker T Claims Brock Lesnar Should Be “Worker Of The Year”

Brock Lesnar & Cody Rhodes

Booker T had high praise for Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes after their clash at SummerSlam.

At WWE’s summer spectacular, Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes went to war one more time, in a bid to end a rivalry that began the night after WrestleMania 39. Cody Rhodes got the win at Backlash before Lesnar leveled at Night of Champions to set up the match at SummerSlam.

Despite Lesnar being back to his dominant best, Rhodes survived the onslaught and grabbed the win after three Cross Rhodes.

Reflecting on the match on his Hall of Fame podcast, NXT announcer Booker T praised the simple physicality on display.

“It was a great match because it didn’t have a whole lot of jumping off or anything. It was just two guys going out there, fisticuffs fighting. The storytelling was really, really awesome. The Rocky Balboa vs. The Russian came in there for a moment. That ‘never say die’ Rocky attitude. ‘You can just beat on me and beat on me and I’m gonna find a way to win.’ It was poetic, it was great.”

Booker praised both men for making the match look and feel like a real fight, adding that Lesnar should be awarded “Worker of the Year” for his part in the match.

“It was one of those matches that every guy on the card, if they’re wondering what it means to work at a main event level, look at that match and it will tell you everything you need to know. Because wrestling is the art of going out and creating the illusion of a real fight. Those guys, they did that for me. When Cody hit him with the three Cross Rhodes at the end, you thought Brock may kick out. But when he stayed down, you weren’t surprised either. Those kinds of stories never die.”

And Brock Lesnar, what a worker. What a damn worker. Brock should get the award of the year, worker of the year, as far as I’m concerned. That’s how good he really made that match on Saturday night.”

When Will Brock Lesnar Be Back In WWE?

The Beast might have impressed Booker T and others with his performance at SummerSlam, but it might be a while before he’s back in action. It was recently reported that WWE isn’t expecting Brock Lesnar back in the ring before 2024.

However, the same report noted that talk of retirement is wide of the mark.
