Two-time WWE Hall Of Famer Booker T has named the wrestler from today’s era that he says matches up to the legendary Nature Boy Ric Flair.
Flair is regarded as one of the best to ever lace up a pair of wrestling boots. The Nature Boy could wrestle hour-long classics, won world title after world title and is one of the most proficient wrestling interviews of all time as he styled and profiled throughout the NWA, WCW, and WWE as only he could.
Flair’s former WCW and WWE colleague and five-time WCW Champion himself has discussed which current wrestler he sees as this generation’s Ric Flair.
Speaking on his Hall Of Fame podcast, Booker T explained:
“That right there (Flair and MJF teaming up) is pretty good because MJF, he is the modern-day Ric Flair. He really is. Sting-Darby Allin – how much of a parallel are those two? It’s like looking in the mirror. So, come on, tell me that doesn’t work? Just think about it, for one second, MJF and Ric Flair both donning the gold robes.”
MJF has certainly made himself the focal point of a strong group in AEW in the same manner that Flair had The Four Horsemen surrounding him in the eighties and nineties. MJF’s Pinnacle includes Flair’s old Horseman partner Tully Blanchard as the former NWA United States Champion leads MJF, Wardlow, FTR, and Shawn Spears into battle with AEW’s finest.
Ric Flair has made headlines in recent days as it was revealed that he had requested and been granted his release from his WWE contract. While nobody knows what the 72-year-old Nature Boy will do next, many fans are clamouring to see Flair reunite with his former Horsemen partners or have one last face-to-face with his perennial rival, The Icon Sting.
