Booker T Brutally Rates WWE Match 6/10

Booker T

Booker T has become a mainstay on WWE NXT commentary each week, and he’s never been shy to give his opinions on the matches he sees between WWE’s rising stars.

As part of WrestleMania weekend, the company put on NXT Stand & Deliver, which saw Carmelo Hayes take on Bron Breakker for the NXT Championship in the main event. Hayes has two North American Championship reigns under his belt, but on April 1st, he secured his place as the top man in NXT when he defeated Breakker, ending his 362 day reign as champion.

Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T revealed that he wasn’t a fan of the main event bout, saying the match lacked feeling.

“As far as the match goes, on a scale of one to ten, I give it a six. I’m not going to go too higher than a six just because I know what I’m looking for. If you’re a gymnast, and you’re doing the vault, what am I looking for? Most important thing in the vault? I’m looking to see if these guys stick the dismount. I’m still looking, still waiting. Did they go out there and perform? Yes, they did. I just thought they were walking their way through it as opposed to feeling their way through it.”

Booker T Is A Fan Of Bron Breakker’s Heel Turn On WWE NXT

On the April 4th episode of NXT, Breakker and Hayes came face to face, and despite initially showing respect, Breakker launched into a brutal attack on the new champion, turning heel in the process. Continuing on his podcast, Booker T praised the heel turn, while saying that he wishes the second-generation star would have been brought in as a heel in the first place. He also says that making Hayes the new champion was the right decision.

“I thought it could have been a lot better. Do I think the right guy won? Yeah. What they did on Tuesday with Bron Breakker turning heel, I like that. I like Bron Breakker better as a heel. He should have started out as a heel, but with him having the pedigree, background, and name, you jumpstart him as a babyface, I get that too. I’m from the school that, you put him out there as a heel first and it teaches him everything he needs to know about being a babyface because he’s working babyfaces.”
