Booker T Believes Major Change Is Coming To Big WWE Matches: “It’s Always Been A Part Of Wrestling”

WWE Hall of Famer Booker T speaking on the mic

Booker T believes that this major change is coming to WWE soon.

At the recently concluded Bad Blood PLE, fans witnessed one of the most violent and bloodied matches in a long time. In the opening bout of the night, CM Punk and Drew McIntyre inflicted torture upon one another in a Hell in a Cell match.

One spot in the match saw, Punk blast a metal toolbox on McIntyre’s head and blast him open. Sporting a crimson mask and requiring 16 staples, Drew McIntyre continued his fight against The Second City Saint.

Recently on the ‘Hall of Fame‘ podcast, NXT announcer and Hall of Famer, Booker T opened up on the violence that occurred at the Hell in a Cell match and shared how he expects it to become a normal thing in the future.

I think Drew got 25 staples or something like that in his head. It was a bloody, bloody affair. He was leaking pretty bad in that match. But CM Punk as well. He left everything in the ring. He went out there and performed and still performed at a high level, giving the fans exactly what they wanted. He got the win. I thought it was a good match.

I think we’re going to be seeing a lot more of that coming up in the near future, with WWE,” Booker said. “A little bit more blood and guts type of wrestling, like it used to be. And for me, that’s always been a part of wrestling.”

The former World Champion believed that the promotion could bring in a change and make these new violent matches a normal custom for several big grudge rivalries.

Booker T Opens Up On Black Representation In WWE

At the Bad Blood press conference on 5th October, Triple H was asked about black representation in WWE. The Chief Content Officer made his stance clear and stated that he does see race, color, or nationality during bookings. He made it clear that he makes his choices based on talent.

Wrestling veteran Booker T also supported Triple H’s statements. On his ‘Hall of Fame‘ podcast, the five-time World Champion shared:

I don’t think it’s any bias at all. I don’t think it’s looked at that way from Triple H. Me personally, I don’t. Just because I’m there, I’m there on a weekly basis. I know what the show needs to actually thrive and get to the next level.

Has there been bias in the wrestling business, in the wrestling company before? Yes, there has. Are angles perhaps touchy? Yes. I’ve been a part of them. But do I think it’s race-related or anything like that, or someone being belittled on purpose? I saw something that there hadn’t been any black guys on [premium live events] in the last three months. Then I’m gonna say, okay, what guys are we talking about that we saying that should be on the pay-per-view? Are they in any angles to warrant a reason for being on the pay-per-view?”

Although he admitted WWE’s past racial bias, he does not believe it to play a role in the current dynamics. The Hall of Famer claimed that wrestlers of color have earned their place in the promotion and are getting the opportunities.

So to answer your question, no, I do not think Triple H has an ulterior motive to why people aren’t on the show. I think he has a motive to why people are on the show more than anything. I don’t think it’s a black and white thing, I don’t think it’s a race thing at this stage of the game. I think if you’re talented enough, if you’re good, cream is gonna rise to the top every time.

I feel like Bianca Belair earned her spot, no one gave it to her. I feel that Jade Cargill has come in and done a hell of a job. She’s blending in perfectly to try to get to that next level as well. I look at someone like Bayley, who’s an extraordinary talent, and that’s the reason why she’s on the card, doing what she’s doing. That’s the only thing I look at when I look at the talent on the roster. Can they go out and perform? I think at the end of the day, the best guys are getting the opportunities.”

In other news: Vince McMahon has shared a piece of advice for all business families.

Recently Booker T explained who the thinks is more believable than Roman Reigns.

On a new episode of his podcast, Booker T stated that 2 NXT stars are main roster ready.
