Bobby Lashley’s ex-wife and former WWE star announced that she is returning to wrestling.
In the early 2000s, one of the highlights of World Wrestling Entertainment was the rise of the Divas era, with many prominent names such as Layla, Michelle McCool, Christy Hemme, and Maria being signed to the roster during that time.
Among them was Kristal (real name Kristal Melisa Marshall), who initially made an appearance during the 2005 RAW Diva Search. In December of the same year, she was shown as a backstage correspondent. However, her in-ring debut came on the March 10, 2006, episode of SmackDown, where she started a feud against Jillian Hall.
Kristal had notable feuds with Layla and Ashley Massaro; however, the highlight of her career came in 2007 when she was involved in a romantic angle with then SmackDown GM Teddy Long, with whom she was supposed to have an in-ring wedding. The angle ended when Long suffered a kayfabe heart attack. Kristal was released shortly after this.
Post-WWE, she had a short run in TNA, where she was named Kristal Lashley and played the role of Bobby Lashley’s wife. She and Lashley had a storyline with Scott Steiner, which culminated in a match where Kristal and Bobby Lashley went up against Steiner and Awesome Kong. Her run in TNA ended in 2010 when Bobby Lashley was released, as he wanted to focus on his MMA career.
Recently, she announced that she is making a comeback to the squared circle at an All Caribbean Wrestling event.
Ex-WWE Star Kristal Shares Why This Return Is Special For Her
Speaking with SoCal Val on The Velvet Ropes Podcast for Wrestlingnews.Co, Kristal said this return has a lot of significance for her, as it is a return to her roots. The event will be held in Barbados, where the former WWE star’s family is from.
She added that, along with this personal reason, she sees the event as an opportunity for the wrestling scene to grow in the Caribbean:
“I am so excited about all of it. You know, my family is from Barbados. I’m a first-generation American. I am a dual citizen. So, you know, the show that I’m going to be a part of is in Barbados. It’s like a huge homecoming of sorts, you know. It’s a beautiful place and an opportunity for wrestling to expand in the heart of the Caribbean. So, it’s an honor, and I’m super excited for you guys to see it, support it, and watch it grow. Very much looking forward to that.”
