Bobby Lashley To Defend WWE Championship At Extreme Rules

Bobby Lashley will put his WWE Championship on the line at Extreme Rules against Randy Orton.

Randy Orton and Riddle kicked off the action on Monday Night RAW addressing the impending Tag Team Turmoil Match to determine their next challengers and their victory over Bobby Lashley and MVP the previous week.

With Riddle going full Riddle and running down their potential challengers, the champions were interrupted by Lashley and MVP. Lashley said that Orton was a coward for giving him an RKO last week. This led to the WWE Champion laying down a challenge to The Viper for a one-on-one match.

Orton said that he liked the idea of being a multiple champion, so would be happy to face Lashley, but only if the WWE Championship was on the line.

MVP accepted on behalf of his charge, meaning Lashley vs. Orton is set for Extreme Rules.

Bobby Lashley has held the WWE Championship since defeating The Miz back in March. In the months that followed the All-Mighty has defeated the likes of Drew McIntyre and Kofi Kingston.

More recently Lashley became embroiled in a feud with WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg. Lashley retained his championship against the WCW legend at SummerSlam with the referee stopping the match. After the bell, Lashley ended up attacking Goldberg’s son Gage, who had jumped him from behind.

In the aftermath of the clash, Goldberg said that he would be back to face Lashley again, but this time he is coming for his soul.

Meanwhile, Randy Orton’s career is steeped in World Title pedigree, with only John Cena and Ric Flair holding more World Championship wins. Orton last held the WWE Title a little under a year ago before being beaten by Drew McIntyre.
