WWE United States Champion Bobby Lashley has spoken in favour of a Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania 37 against Drew McIntyre and Brock Lesnar.
At the conclusion of 2020, it was widely reported by various outlets that WWE Champion Drew McIntyre would defend his coveted prize at WrestleMania against either Brock Lesnar in a rematch of the WrestleMania 36 main event, or against both Lesnar and Keith Lee in a Triple Threat Match.
While it looks unlikely that will come to fruition thanks to Brock Lesnar being nowhere to be seen as we enter WrestleMania season and Keith Lee having been dropped down the Raw roster for the time being, another of WWE’s champions has stepped forward to pitch for the title match on ‘The Show of Shows.’
The enforcer of The Hurt Business, Bobby Lashley, has joined Sport Illustrated to discuss his future plans which including wanting a WWE Championship reign before he steps away from the industry for good. According to Lashley, if he has to go through both the Scot and ‘The Beast’ in one match, then so be it:
“The world title, that’s been my priority since I came back. That hasn’t changed. When I returned to WWE, I came in and paid respect to the guys who were here. Ever since, I’ve been focused on I taking steps to show I am the guy. I want that fight, I want that title. Drew is old-school. He fits into any era. He’s tough, he’s real. We have a lot of unfinished business. We have history. We’ve met in the ring before, we were tag partners, and we know each other real well. Drew is ‘The Chosen One.’ That’s not me, I’m someone that fought for it. There is so much potential for our fights.
Adding Brock always adds a lot. He’s as real as it gets, and he’s someone I want in the ring. So I’m open to that, but me and Drew can do it on our own, too. There are a lot of options, which is great for everyone.”
At forty four years of age, the master of the Hurt Lock doesn’t believe he has long left as an active performer and is intent on making 2021 his year to finally ascend the fabled mountain:
The 44 year old Lashley, who is in the best shape of his career at this point, admitted that he is getting closer to the end of his career. That is why this current year is so important to him. Lashley said 2021 will be his year. He commented on how much longer he has left.
“This is going to be my year. I have a different level of confidence. Even at my age, I don’t think there is anyone working harder than me. I know that my finish line is soon. I won’t be here for another 10 or 15 years like Ricochet or Cedric. I’m running to the finish line, and I’m hitting it hard. This is the year for me.”
Recently on WWE television, Bobby Lashley has been locked in a tussle over his gold with former NXT Tag Team Champion Riddle who he has overcome at every turn, including on the February 1 Monday Night Raw.
