Bobby Lashley has commented on a potential match with Mike Tyson, saying if the opportunity came along, he would “take it 100%”.
The All Mighty said he would love to do it but things were still in “the feeling out process”.
Lashley is no stranger to combat sports having a history in Mixed Martial Arts. The former WWE Champion has a record of 17 fights with 15 wins with 2 defeats across stints with Bellator and Strikeforce among others. His most recent fight took place in October 2016 when he defeated Josh Appelt via submission at Bellator 162.
Speaking to Inside The Ropes’ own Kenny McIntosh ahead of SummerSlam, Lashley joked that he wait out Tyson before landing the knockout blow.
“I think Mike Tyson would come and do his little Mike Tyson thing, I’ll wait, wait, wait and go BAM! [does a punching motion], and then I’ll knock him out.”
After it was suggested Lashley should do it for the people, he agreed and said he would “absolutely” have that fight.
“Alright, let’s book the fight. I don’t know where it actually came from, I think it was one of the organisations, a sponsor of one of the organisations contacted a friend of mine that contacted me. He was like, ‘Would you fight Mike Tyson?’, and I was like, ‘Mike Tyson? Absolutely I’d fight Mike Tyson’.
“For me, I’m a fighter. Am I out here saying that, ‘Yeah, I could go whoop Mike Tyson’? That’d be stupid for me to say, and that would be disrespectful for me to say, so I’m not saying that, I’m just saying that if I had an opportunity to fight Mike Tyson, I would take it 100%.
Lashley went on to say it would be a big honour to fight Tyson and there was a huge upside to the idea.
“It would be a huge honour to fight Mike Tyson. Look at the upside; if I were to catch ‘Iron Mike’ with a punch to put him down, I’m the greatest person in the world. I’m in movies, I’m everywhere, I’m the biggest sports start in the entire world if that ever happened.”
