The main event of WWE Raw saw Bobby Lashley face off against Seth Rollins in singles action for a chance to become the number one contender to Austin Theory’s United States Championship.
Both men have a storied history with both the title and with Theory himself. At WWE Money in the Bank back in July, Bobby Lashley defeated Austin Theory for that same title. Theory’s luck took a turn for the better later in the night when he won the Money in the Bank ladder match, ensuring that he could have a title match of his choosing at any time.
On the October 10th season premiere of WWE Raw, Brock Lesnar shocked the world by returning to television for the first time since losing to Roman Reigns at SummerSlam. He launched a brutal attack on Lashley, delivering multiple F5’s before locking in the Kimura. The damage to Lashley’s arm was so great that he was unable to apply the Hurt Lock on Seth Rollins during their United States Championship match immediately following, and Rollins won the title following multiple Stomps.
Fast forward to November 7th, and after Lashley laid out Seth Rollins with a vicious attack, Austin Theory cashed in his Money in the Bank contract in an attempt to win the United States Championship. However, Rollins kicked out of his initial pinfall attempt, and Lashley also attacked Theory during the match, allowing Rollins to retain in the end.
All three men faced off in triple threat action at WWE Survivor Series, and in the end, Austin Theory scored the pinfall victory, winning the title for a second time.
Adam Pearce Fired Bobby Lashley Following Another Loss To Seth Rollins
Bobby Lashley and Seth Rollins faced off once again in a rematch in the main event of the December 12th episode of WWE Raw. Near the end of the match, Lashley applied the Hurt Lock, but the two men crashed into the referee, sending him to the outside and leaving no one to immediately count the pinfall after Lashley hit a spear. When the official made his way back into the ring, Rollins was able to kick out, and delivered a Pedigree to Lashley for the pinfall victory.
Enraged, Bobby Lashley confronted the referee after the match, and when another official came to save his colleague, he was knocked out by The Almighty. This brought out Adam Pearce, who yelled that Lashley couldn’t act this way. He then shockingly made the decision not to suspend Lashley, but instead declared that the former WWE Champion was fired from the company altogether.
