Bobby Lashley Reveals His Favourite Vince McMahon Interaction

Bobby Lashley on Vince McMahon

Bobby Lashley has opened up about his favourite backstage interaction with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

For many years WWE Superstars both past and present have stressed the importance of having a good relationship with Vince McMahon. Throughout history every top star that WWE have had, held a strong relationship with the Chairman, whether that’s Steve Austin, The Rock, John Cena or Brock Lesnar.

Speaking exclusively to Inside the Ropes’ Kenny McIntosh for issue 18 of Inside the Ropes Magazine, Bobby Lashley opened up about his own relationship with McMahon.

The All-Mighty explained that the majority of his interactions with McMahon begin with him learning something from the boss. However, he added that they also have a relationship where they can joke around as well as talking business.

“Most of my interactions with Vince start out with some learning. It always starts out as a conversation where we talk about something and I try to understand where he’s coming from. I think a lot of people try to tell him, but I don’t think anybody sat behind the scenes has the kind of education that he has in this business. So I always go to a point where I’m learning from him, but then we just joke around with our stuff afterwards. That’s how it’s always been—Vince has always been cool.”

Expanding further, Lashley recalled his favourite interaction with McMahon, describing the Chairman’s words as “profound.”

“I remember when I first started wrestling, he came up to me when I was walking by and it was right when I was just kind of getting a bit of a push. And he goes, “What are you doing with your money?” And I said, “Errrr…”. He said, “A king must live in a castle,” then he walked off. I was like, “That’s so cool.”

I thought it was cool that way because it stuck with me because I get it. You work your ass off, don’t go buy a bunch of stuff that has nothing to do with anything. Your kids are going to be there, you’re going to spend the majority of your life—make that castle. Build that castle with the work that you’re putting in. Such a profound statement.”

Bobby Lashley famously starred across from McMahon during the ‘Battle of the Billionaires’ at WrestleMania 23, while he was later defeated by his boss for the ECW Championship.
