Throughout history WWE and wrestling promotions in general have proven time and time again that no storyline idea is too ridiculous, but even so, this 2021 entry from Bobby Lashley is more than a little unorthodox.
For his entire athletic career Bobby Lashley has never been seen in anything less than incredible physical condition. Even at 46-years-old he continues to share more in common with the physique of a Greek God than any regular human being. Unsurprisingly, this means that working out and training is a huge part of his life. But what if it wasn’t?
Bobby Lashley Pitched Downward Spiral Which Involved Gaining 70lbs
Speaking during an interview with Sam Roberts on NotSam Wrestling, Lashley recalled pitching a storyline which would have seen him descend into a deep depression following a defeat. This would have led to him gaining 70lbs before being brought back from the brink by MVP.
“I told Vince [McMahon], a year ago I think, a year or two ago, ‘I want to do this character.’ ‘What is it?’ ‘If I get beat one time, I want to go into this severe depression and put on 40, 50, 60, 70 pounds and just be fat.’ It’d be a completely different character, and then have somebody like MVP or someone on my side pull me back and have the crowd watch this transition back to me. He said, ‘there is no way you can do that.’ ‘I think I can do it,'”
Interestingly, Lashley refused to rule out making the same pitch to new Chief Content Officer Triple H.
“I’m gonna try. I talked to some people about it. I think it was Drew (McIntyre) and he told me, ‘You’ll probably go into a depression.’ I think I would a little bit. Not because of the eating part, but the working out. I work out and that’s my therapy, that’s my everything.”
Bobby Lashley is currently wrapped up in a feud with Brock Lesnar. It has been announced that the pair will square off at Crown Jewel on November 5th.
