Bobby Fish To Challenge For TNT Championship On AEW Dynamite

Sammy Guevara might be the brand new TNT Champion but his first challenger is already set as he faces former WWE Superstar Bobby Fish.

The Spanish God finally struck gold in All Elite Wrestling for the first time after he defeated ‘The Redeemer’ Miro for the TNT Championship on AEW Dynamite.

AEW Dynamite finally rolled into Rochester, New York eighteen months after the originally scheduled show in the city was postponed due to the pandemic. With the show emanating from the hometown of who Tony Khan called “the greatest TNT Champion in history,” the late Brodie Lee, there was no better place for that title to be on the line in the main event.

Guevara sported the black and purple colours of Lee and The Dark Order as he went up against the so far undefeated in singles competition, Miro. Towards the end of the match, Miro nailed his jumping thrust kick but Sammy Guevara managed to kick out at 2. As Miro let the crowd know it was time for Game Over, Guevara wisely rolled out of the ring.

An incensed Miro then tore the turnbuckle covers of all four ring posts, stopping briefly to clock Guevara’s friend Fuego Del Sol who had attempted to stop him. This slight distraction allowed Guevara to get back into the ring and connect Miro’s head with the now unprotected turnbuckle.

Sammy Guevara then hit the Tornado DDT in tribute to Fuego before hitting his own GTH and then nailing a 630 from the top rope to bring the Rochester crowd to its feet and capture his first gold in AEW.

Guevara was joined in the ring by his Vlog Crew, Inner Circle, and other stars of AEW including Dark Order’s leader Brodie Lee Jr. to celebrate his success.

The celebration did not last long however as former NXT Tag Team Champion Bobby Fish made his challenge to Guevara on social media. During the premiere edition of TNT’s Rhodes To The Top, Sammy Guevara accepted the challenge before also being confronted by The Men Of The Year.

Bobby Fish was part of The Undisputed Era in NXT alongside Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong, and Adam Cole. Cole himself recently debuted in AEW, shocking the system once again at the end of the All Out pay-per-view. While in NXT Fish captured the NXT Tag Team Championship on two separate occasions. Fish was released from his WWE contract as part of ongoing budget cuts in the company on August 6th.
