Blockbuster First-Time Singles Match Planned For Mercedes Mone, Possibly As Soon As AEW Dynasty

Mercedes Mone with AEW TBS Championship

Mercedes Mone has never faced off against this opponent in singles action.

On the March 19th episode of Dynamite, Mercedes Mone successfully defended her TBS Championship against rising star Billie Starkz. After the match, Mone was interviewed backstage, where she questioned who had trained Starkz as the person taught her “nothing about wrestling.”

Starkz, of course, has been closely tied to ROH Women’s Champion Athena, who took Mone to task on social media, writing:

That’s cute, considering it took you over a year to get 16 wins… So let’s just agree minion 400237 3/4 still sucks and you’re gonna have to try harder than that if you want me…

With love and anger

According to a new report from Fightful Select, there are plans for Athena and Mone to face off in a dream match sometime in the near future, possibly as soon as AEW Dynasty on April 6th. The report notes that while the two competed in multi-woman action and even tagged together on occasion in WWE, they’ve never had a one on one match, and haven’t worked together in over six years.

How Long Has Mercedes Mone Been AEW TBS Champion?

Mercedes Mone’s reign as TBS Championship began at Double or Nothing on May 26, 2024 when she defeated Willow Nightingale. The climax of the match witnessed Mone executing the decisive Mone Maker, propelling her to a hard-earned pinfall victory. On March 21st, Mercedes Mone celebrated 300 days with the TBS Title.

Athena, meanwhile, has reigned as ROH Women’s Champion for over two years, winning the title at Final Battle 2022.
