Dwayne Johnson Finds Success In First Outing In DC Universe

In the film Dwayne Johnson plays the titular role after years of trying to bring the project to life. That determination has paid dividends with the movie amassing more than $360 million at the box office while holding the number one spot for three straight weeks.

The first ten minutes of the picture takes audiences back to Kahndaq in 2600 BCE. Here, Teth-Adam left his role as a slave behind to become champion of Kahndaq. From here, the action jumps forward to the present day where Kahndaq is under siege. The movie cuts off just before Black Adam awakens.

The film also introduces fans to the Justice Society. The group is made up of Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo), and Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell). However, it is the post-credits scene featuring Henry Cavill as Superman that has really got everyone talking.

Speaking with CinemaBlend, Hiram Garcia – a producer on Black Adam and has previously worked alongside Dwayne Johnson on a number of projects, including Young Rock – teased that Johnson’s Black Adam character was set for a showdown with Henry Cavill’s Superman:

“It’s never been about a one-off or just about a fight. No, it’s about so much more than that. We really want to craft a long form of storytelling and show that these two characters exist in the same universe and are going to have to deal with each other often, either on the same or opposite sides.

Hopefully, they’re going to clash at some point, but it’s not just about a ‘one fight’ situation. That was never our dream. That does not reward the fans. Fans want to feel a journey between these guys knowing that these guys exist in the same universe.”

Dwayne Johnson will next play the role of Black Adam, this time in only a voice capacity, in Shazam: Fury of the Gods.
