Jeff Hardy has been absent from AEW programming following his arrest, but it may not be too much longer before we see ‘The Charismatic Enigma’ back in the ring.
Arrested on 13 June for being caught driving with a suspended license while under the influence, Jeff Hardy has been left suspended without pay from All Elite Wrestling. Hardy is said to have been over three times the legal limit and was “barely responsive” when pulled over.
It’s believed that he’s made significant process in rehab, though, with Dave Meltzer writing in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Jeff Hardy may be “out of rehab soon”. What, exactly, this means for the future of his AEW career isn’t known, but Meltzer added that Hardy would be back in the ring, presumably in a training capacity.
Jeff has a sadly storied history with DUIs and has been arrested on a number of occasions. He was released from WWE last December amidst rumours of him using drugs, though a subsequent drug test came back clean and he joined All Elite Wrestling, despite WWE’s best attempts to retain him.
In AEW, Hardy had been paired with his brother Matt, winning a tag team match over The Young Bucks at Double or Nothing. During the bout, Jeff is said to have suffered a “concussion-like injury” that left many fans concerned for his behaviour in the contest.
