Big Update On Cesaro’s Post-WWE Status

A new report has offered an update on the future of Cesaro, with the star currently remaining out of the wrestling spotlight since his WWE contract expired in February.

Cesaro, real name Claudio Castagnoli, hasn’t appeared in a wrestling ring since leaving WWE on February 24th. The former tag team champion had been with the company for more than a decade, but decided it was time to move on.

Due to the fact that the star left upon the expiry of his contract, and wasn’t released, that meant he wasn’t subject to a non-compete clause. This led many fans to expect the Swiss Cyborg to appear somewhere such as AEW, within weeks. However, that hasn’t been the case.

In response, a new report from Fightful Select has offered a fresh update on the future of the former United States Champion. The report notes that while Cesaro hasn’t wrestled or appeared at any signings, it’s not through a lack of interest.

Fightful state that they have been told that Cesaro was “priced out” of some potential bookings, with promotors unable to land the star until the asking price “comes back down to earth.” The star is currently represented by an agent who works with several other stars. Furthermore, some wrestlers have deliberately been setting their asking price very high, because they’re happy to stay at home or want snag the best deal possible.

The report closes by reiterating that WWE wanted to keep hold of Cesaro, but an agreement couldn’t be reached.

“Over the last 16 months he’d shown that he knew his value and wasn’t going to get into an unfavourable position. One source indicated that Cesaro and/or his team was very savvy in speaking with WWE in 2021 and 2022.”

In March, the Swiss star, filed a trademark for the name CRSO, for multiple uses, including merchandise, coffee and pro wrestling.

The star now goes by the name Claudio CRSO, a mash-up of his real name, and more well-known WWE ring name.

Posting on social media, the former WWE Superstar has recently shared a new photo with the caption “soon.”
