A new report has claimed that Big Swole was frustrated over a lack of action ahead of her departure from AEW.
On November 30th Big Swole announced that she was leaving AEW after reaching an agreement with Tony Khan not to renew her contract.
The star signed with the company back in December 2019 after making her debut with the company in August, competing in the Casino Battle Royale at All Out. In the summer of 2020, the Clearwater, Florida native entered a feud with Britt Baker, going on to defeat her rival in a Tooth and Nail match at All Out 2020 in September.
Swole was later kept out of the ring in early 2021 due to her ongoing battle with Crohn’s disease.
She wrestled what would be her final match in AEW on September 11th where she defeated Allie Katch on AEW Dark.
Speaking on the latest Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast, Andrew Zarian has now suggested that the star had become a little frustrated by her role in AEW, as she felt she wasn’t really being utilised.
“Big Swole leaves AEW, they will not be renewing her contract. There was a little bit of frustration on her side that they weren’t really utilising her. I always liked her character and I thought she was a good addition to that main roster of AEW’s women’s divison. She also had some health issues and sometimes you need to step back and be like ‘Let me leave, let me regroup and then I’ll figure out what I’m going to do.'”
In a statement announcing her departure from AEW, Big Swole said it was a hard decision but a needed one. She went on to thank the company for their understanding adding that she had enjoyed her time with the promotion.
