A new report has suggested that a major NXT Superstar was originally scheduled to appear on the September 13th episode of Monday Night RAW.
According to Fightful Select, the original script for Monday Night RAW called for Samoa Joe to appear on the red brand. The appearance was reportedly to promote the relaunch of NXT which is coming the following night. It is currently unclear as to whether Joe will still be appearing on the show.
The report comes after Samoa Joe was forced to relinquish his NXT Championship on September 12th. Posting on Twitter, Joe explained that he had been advised to set away from the ring by WWE’s medical team due to injury.
As it is unclear when he’ll be able to return, Joe voluntarily made the decision to vacate the championship.
There is currently no news as to what the injury might be, or on the future of the NXT Championship. Samoa Joe won the NXT Championship at NXT TakeOver: 36, overcoming Karrion Kross to become the brand’s
first ever three-time champion.
Elsewhere on RAW, Bobby Lashley is set to defend his WWE Championship against Randy Orton. The bout had originally been scheduled to take place at Extreme Rules, but was later moved.
It has also been revealed that Lashley’s championship could also be under threat from Big E. The holder of the Money In The Bank briefcase has announced on Twitter that he intends to cash in his contract and win the WWE Championship.
