Big E Shares Surprising Fact About His Relation With Roman Reigns: “I’ve Been Aware Of Him”

Former WWE Champion Big E has revealed more details about his relationship with Roman Reigns.

Last wrestled on the 11th March 2022 episode of SmackDown, Big E has since then been sidelined with a neck injury. Since suffering a significant injury after a suplex, the former champion has not competed.

However, a few months before this unfortunate incident, Big E went toe to toe with Reigns at the 2021 Survivor Series, as the two champions of Raw and SmackDown. Despite suffering a defeat, E put forward an equal battle with the Tribal Chief. Over the years, the two have crossed paths multiple times, dating back to their initial days on the main roster and the developmental brand FCW.

However, during a recent interview with IGN while promoting WWE 2K25, the former New Day member opened up on his relationship with Reigns, and how it dates back to almost fourteen years.

“I’ve known Roman for 14 years now. I remember him when he played football at Georgia Tech. I was a defensive tackle, he was a defensive tackle. So he’s someone, I’ve been aware of him since college. I think it was all conference at Georgia Tech. So he was someone, a name I knew from college. Then starting off, there’s a video of me benching 575 at Cena’s gym that was used in a promo package and it’s Roman spotting me.

Especially when you first come up in WWE and FCW, there were probably about 40 of us training together in a warehouse. So we’re together every single day. We’re doing shows on the weekends. We’re training together. So I’ve known Roman pretty well.”

While E has not yet announced his wrestling comeback, Reigns is rumored to face CM Punk and Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 41.

Big E Wants To Face This Wrestling Legend

Speaking on the same interview with IGN, Big E named the Wrestling legend he would like to face. Explaining Goldberg as his childhood idol, the former champion, stated:

“I’ve been pretty fortunate to wrestle everyone, a lot of people from the roster. Maybe I think Goldberg, we’ve had some interactions, but I think it would have been so beautifully and weirdly full circle to get a chance to wrestle my childhood idol.

“I got a chance to meet him at a signing in the late 90s when I was still a kid. So a chance to wrestle Goldberg would have been very, very cool.”
