Big E has shared a new update with fans as he continues his recovery from a broken neck.
The March 11th episode of Friday Night SmackDown was marred by a serious injury suffered by former WWE Champion Big E. During a tag team match which saw the star team with Kofi Kingston to take on Sheamus and Ridge Holland, one particular spot went badly wrong.
After falling to the outside of the ring, Big E was given an Overhead Belly-to-Belly Suplex by Holland. However, instead of the New Day star landing flat on his back, he landed on his head and neck. While Big E was taken to the backstage area on a stretcher, it was later confirmed that he had broken his neck.
The star later explained that his C1 and C6 vertebrae were fractured, but he thankfully hadn’t sustained any damage to his spinal cord.
In May, the multi-time WWE Tag Team Champion revealed that his neck wasn’t “healing optimally” but shared a more positive update in June in a post where he threw his neck brace in the trash.
In a further update posted on July 4th, Big E wrote that while surgery is still off the table, his C1 vertebrae isn’t yet forming bone.
Update! My C1 isn’t ossifying (forming bone) quite yet. The current plan is to get more scans at the one year mark & see how it’s progressing. The great news is I feel tremendous & surgery is off the table.

At time of writing it remains unclear as to when the star will be able to return to the ring. In the former World Champion’s absence, the New Day continued to feud with the Brawling Brutes, recruiting assistance from ‘Big D’ Drew McIntyre.
Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston were most recently in action on the June 17th edition of SmackDown where they defeated Jinder Mahal and Shanky.
Everyone at Inside The Ropes would like to send their best wishes to Big E as he continues his recovery.
