WWE Champion Big E didn’t wait to find out if Roman Reigns was ready or not when he confronted him on SmackDown and he did it wearing gear inspired by The Fugees.
The New Day star hit the biggest score of his career when he cashed in his Money In The Bank briefcase on Bobby Lashley on RAW to capture his first WWE Championship. With very little time to recharge, Big E showed up on Friday Night SmackDown to confront WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
In the main event of Friday’s show, Big E was living like there ain’t no tomorrow as he teamed with the number one contender for Reigns’ WWE Universal Title, Finn Balor. It was family business for their opponents, the SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos but Big E and Balor were able to pick up the victory.
The man who made Big E’s gear for SmackDown – Jonathan Davenport – has taken to social media to share images of his work which was inspired by nineties hip-hop icons The Fugees.
The NEW WWE CHAMP Big E stormed the ring in my #Fugees-inspired gear tonight and I couldn't be happier with the job @MainEventGear did bringing it to life! Eternally grateful to @WWEBigE@AustinCreedWins and @TrueKofi for their trust and support! pic.twitter.com/kNWnvWzFCe

The picture of The New Day on the back of the jacket is reminiscent of the cover of The Fugee’s seminal album The Score. Underneath that, titles of many of the band’s hits can be seen with The New Day on Big E’s singlet shown in a similar style as The Fugees was written on the cover of The Score.
Big E’s partner for the night Finn Balor will be seeking more than stardom when he faces Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship at Extreme Rules. Should Reigns defeat The Demon, The Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar awaits him at Crown Jewel.
Big E will no doubt return to the zealots of Monday Night RAW after becoming the WWE Champion. He is not scheduled for a match at Extreme Rules as of yet but no doubt former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley will be looking to kill Big E’s title reign anything but softly moving forward.
The Fugees were a hip hop trio comprised of Pras Michel, Lauryn Hill, and Wyclef Jean. Jean teamed up with WWE icon The Rock in the late nineties to release the song It Doesn’t Matter from his album The Ecleftic: 2 Sides II A Book.
