Big E responded to his fellow New Day members paying tribute to him with their wrestling gear at WrestleMania 38.
On the March 11th edition of SmackDown, a serious injury to Big E overshadowed the rest of the show. The former WWE Champion had been teaming with Kofi Kingston to take on Sheamus and Ridge Holland.
After Big E fell to the outside, he was given an overhead Belly to Belly Suplex by Ridge Holland. However, instead of flipping all the way over and landing on his back, he landed on his head and neck, resulting in a broken neck. The former WWE Champion has since commented that a doctor has told him he narrowly avoided absolute catastrophe with the nasty injury.
In a match that was cut from night one of WrestleMania due to time constraints, New Day members Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston took on Ridge Holland and Sheamus, who were accompanied by Butch (formerly Pete Dunne). In tribute to their injured friend, the New Day dressed in singlets and ring jackets that echo the signature style of Big E.
Taking to social media, Big E responded to his friends’ tribute to him and said that it’s something he will never forget.
“MAAAAAAAANNN…I have the best friends. I’ll never forget this.”

Fightful Select previously reported that prior to his injury, Big E was factored into plans for a potential six-man tag team match at WrestleMania 38 with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods to face the team of Sheamus, Ridge Holland, and Pete Dunne – now known as Butch – who debuted on the same show where the New Day star suffered his neck injury.
