According to Fightful Select, the new theme tune of Big E was enforced by WWE management as they look to push the star into the main event picture.
On the December 4 WWE Friday Night SmackDown, Big E shocked the world when he made his entrance for a 6-Man Tag Team Match with not only with brand new entrance music by Wale, but by resurrecting his old pre-match gimmick of chalking his hands on his way to the ring.
Now, as per the report by Fightful, the changes were necessitated by the office rather than the star himself. Though it is noted that the former Big E Langston did want Wale to record a new theme for him, management believed that an overhaul would lend more credibility to the star.
Originally, the plan was to debut the talent’s new theme several months ago around the time the former WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champion feuded with Sheamus and once it was apparent The New Day were no more. However, that plan had to be iced when it was apparent tweaks needed to be made to the track before it aired on live television.
Big E is currently joint favourite to win the 2021 Royal Rumble Match, alongside Edge, and face Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 37. A singles push for the star has been in the works for some time now as WWE look to highlight the next generation of headliners.
