WWE Champion Big E has revealed that The New Day pitched a program which would have seen them take on the Undisputed ERA in NXT.
While there have been numerous Survivor Series where Raw and SmackDown have battled for ‘brand supremacy,’ for the first time ever in 2019, NXT also got involved.
As a result the NXT Championship match between Adam Cole and Pete Dunne was added to the card, and numerous matches featured all three brands in action against each other. One of these matches was the Champions Triple Threat Tag Team Match. The bout saw SmackDown Champions The New Day taking on Raw Champions The Viking Raiders and NXT Champions the Undisputed Era, represented by Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish.
While The Viking Raiders picked up the win on the night, Big E has now revealed that the match left The New Day wanting to work more with Undisputed ERA. In conversation with Robbie Fox on My Mom’s Basement, Big E explained that he and his partners were ready to go to NXT to make the feud happen.
“We always wanted to do stuff with Undisputed ERA. We even talked about going down to NXT at some point and doing a run with them, that was something we really wanted to do. Those guys are so incredibly hot and had such a great run down there. It was cool. That version of Survivor Series when we involved NXT was cool, unique, and added a different flavour to Survivor Series. We didn’t get our faction vs. faction match with Undisputed ERA, but being part of stuff with Viking Raiders and those guys was cool and a unique way to do the match,”
Fast forward to 2021 and Big E is currently preparing for what is arguably the biggest singles match of his career. In another champion vs. champion battle, the WWE Title holder is readying himself to meet Universal Champion Roman Reigns at Survivor Series.
The match has taken on increased significance in recent weeks, with Reigns and The Bloodline beating down New Day stars Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods at every opportunity.
