Former WWE Champion Big E has given the latest update on the serious neck injury he suffered and it looks like The New Day star is on the road to recovery.
During a tag team match that saw Big E team with Kofi Kingston to take on Sheamus and Ridge Holland on the March 11th episode of SmackDown, one spot went very badly wrong.
After falling to the outside of the ring, Big E was given an Overhead Belly-to-Belly Suplex by Holland. However, instead of the New Day star landing flat on his back, he landed on his head and neck. While Big E was taken to the backstage area on a stretcher, it was later confirmed that he had broken his neck. Although the man himself later confirmed that he wouldn’t need surgery.
The star explained at the time that his C1 and C6 vertebrae were fractured, but he thankfully hadn’t sustained any damage to his spinal cord.
After previously saying his neck wasn’t healing optimally, Big E has now taken to social media to give a more positive update which simply shows the neck brace he has been forced to wear being thrown unceremonially into the trash.

Big E signed with WWE in 2009, later going on to become NXT Champion. After moving to the main roster, the star won the Intercontinental Title, before joining forces with Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston in the New Day in late 2014. The trio has gone on to become one of the most popular teams in recent WWE history. In 2021 Big E won the biggest prize in pro wrestling when he cashed in Money In The Bank to win the WWE Title.
