Big Cass Reveals What He Said To Enzo When Hardy Boyz Returned

Hardy Boyz

One of the most iconic moments and greatest pops, in wrestling in recent memory for many would definitely be the return of Matt and Jeff Hardy to WWE at WrestleMania 33. While the brothers are now carving out their own paths in WWE and AEW respectively, the moment is still remembered by fans to this day as one of the most exciting ‘Mania moments in recent memory.

One man who had a front-row seat for the action, and to witness the reaction, was W Morrissey, formerly Big Cass, who was stood in the ring as that return happened in front of over 70,000 members of the WWE Universe.

Speaking with Inside The Ropes‘ Lead Writer Gary Cassidy, Morrissey opened up about what he said to then-tag team partner Enzo Amore upon their entrance.

“I’m sure I said something along the lines of… ‘Did you hear that motherf***ing pop? That was crazy!’ But yeah, being in the ring, like, there was speculation but really… The six people in the ring and the few people backstage were the only people that knew what was about to happen. While we were all in the ring, all six of us with the belt above us, circling each other, we all knew it was about to happen and it’s pretty cool feeling because we were excited and anticipating what was about to happen because we knew how the fans were going to react. So that moment, right before The New Day came out super… It was just, it was really tense, but really exciting, and it was cool to be in there with those five other guys.”

The sentiment is one echoed by The Good Brothers, who spoke to the same moment in an interview with ITR in late 2020.

Anderson: “You know, to be in that ring, though, when their music hit was one of the coolest things that anybody could ever experience! For us to be in the middle of the ring when that music hit, to hear that and feel it, man, it was it was cool, man. We found out the day before and then history was made.

Gallows: “Yeah, you got to remember, like, we were buddies with the Hardy Boyz, so they were more open to tell us than the office probably was – which made it a little bit more fun. But I can still feel the chills from that pop when they made their return at WrestleMania 33. If there was a roof on that dome, it would have blown off – so it was very cool to be part of it.”
