According to PWInsider, Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly are set to become the two top babyfaces on NXT.
Adam Cole’s turn reportedly began after he lost the NXT Championship to Keith Lee and was furthered after failing to defeat Finn Balor to recapture the gold at NXT Super Tuesday II on September 9th.
On last night’s edition of NXT, the leader of The Undisputed Era defeated Austin Theory in singles action and is now purpously being pitted against known and notable heels to push the notion of him switching sides.
For Kyle O’Reilly, the transition has been somewhat smoother, automatically falling into the babyface role after becoming No.1 Contender to NXT Champion Finn Balor at NXT TakeOver 31.
PWInsider report that the plan backstage is now for Cole and O’Reilly to transition into a full babyface role but for the rest of The Undisputed Era, Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong, to remain heel. This would signal the end of one of the most popular factions in NXT and WWE history.
Signs of the turn were evident on the TakeOver go-home episode of the black and yellow brand when both Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly complimented each other’s skills inside the ring but purpousfully left Fish and Stong out.
How WWE move forward with the storyline and the potential rivalries to come from it remains to be seen.
The Undisputed Era have been the overriding factor in NXT for over three years now. Their demise would be one of the most tragic happenings in NXT history.
Kyle O’Reilly will challenge Finn Balor for the NXT Championship at NXT TakeOver 31 on October 4th.
