On the January 16th episode of Monday Night Raw the rivalry between Bianca Belair and Alexa Bliss continued to ramp up.
After missing a couple of weeks after being beaten down by Bliss, Belair was back and out for revenge. In her absence Bliss had further descended further into madness, coming under the spell of Uncle Howdy. Microphone in hand, Belair challenged Bliss to come out to the ring, and she duly obliged. After agreeing to a match at the Royal Rumble the two women decided they didn’t want to wait to settle their differences and began brawling through the crowd.
Belair then set up Bliss for a KOD onto two chairs but was distracted by an appearance from Uncle Howdy. This enabled Bliss to DDT the Raw Women’s Champion onto the floor.
During the promo exchange and throughout the subsequent fight the crowd weren’t as behind Belair as they have been previously, while they seemingly warmed to Bliss instead.
Bianca Belair’s True Character Isn’t Coming Through
Speaking on Sportskeeda’s Legion of Raw show, Vince Russo has suggested that the problem with Bianca Belair lies with her promos. The former WWE writer suggested that she doesn’t come across as authentic, which makes her promos “stereotypical.”
“I just think that the promos are so stereotypical and I hate it. I hate it because I’m seeing a character and the real her is not coming through. You know, Steve Austin was a character but you knew there was a little Steve Austin in him. You know, there was a little Rock in there. I’m seeing this façade and this show but I’m not seeing who’s really in there,”
Bianca Belair will defend her Raw Women’s Title against Alexa Bliss at the Royal Rumble on January 28th. Elsewhere on the card, Roman Reigns defends his Undisputed WWE Universal title against Kevin Owens and Bray Wyatt takes on LA Knight in the first-ever Pitch Black Match.
